What is kaempferol?

Kaempferol is an organic compound with a chemical formula of C15H10O6. It belongs to flavonoids. It is a yellow crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water, soluble in hot ethanol, ether or alkaline solution, mainly antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, cough and expectorant effect.
On October 27, 2017, the list of carcinogens released by the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization was initially compiled for reference, and kaempferol was included in the list of three types of carcinogens.

Uses of kaempferol

1. Anti-cancer and anti-cancer
Kaempferol as the most common flavonoids, long-term diet can reduce the risk of cancer. Studies have reported that high intake of kaempferol can reduce the recurrence of advanced colorectal adenoma, and, compared with other flavonoids in the daily diet, high intake of kaempferol can also significantly reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer. The latest research shows that kaempferol can also inhibit hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and its receptor tyrosine protein kinase, which are related to the growth and metastasis of children's medulloblastoma, so it can be prevented and treated by dietary kaempferol. 2. Anti-infection and anti-inflammation
Studies have shown that kaempferol has good antibacterial activity and is also effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The K-Br disc method shows that the concentration of 50mg/tablet can make the inhibition zone of MRSA reach 8.5 mm, it also has good antibacterial activity against Vibrio cholerae and Enterococcus faecalis. Studies have shown that kaempferol can not only inhibit copper ion-induced oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) into oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) , and can also reduce the expression of CD 36 protein on the surface of THP-1 macrophages, prevent the cells from taking up ox-LDL, and thus prevent the occurrence of atherosclerosis.

Studies have shown that kaempferol has the effect of acting as an agonist with the hypoglycemic drug rosiglitazone, but its adverse reactions are far weaker than rosiglitazone.
