Description
Products Description
What Is 5-HTP?
5-Hydroxytryptophan is an organic compound, an amino acid, that acts as a precursor to serotonin in the body and is therefore thought to help increase serotonin levels.

Some double-blind studies have shown that 5-HTP can increase the concentration of serotonin in the brain, improve depression and promote the formation of melatonin, improve sleep quality, and suppress appetite, but these studies are still controversial. Therefore, more research is still needed to confirm whether 5-HTP has these physiological effects. Griffonia seeds are rich in 5-hydroxytryptophan, which is currently the main natural source of 5-HTP.

The role of 5-HTP
● 5-HTP can promote sleep by increasing melatonin production
Melatonin plays a vital role in regulating sleep. Its levels start to rise at night to help you sleep and fall in the morning to help you wake up. 5-HTP produces serotonin, which can be converted into the hormone melatonin. Therefore, taking these supplements may increase your body's production of melatonin, which helps you fall asleep
A 2018 study found that the GABA/5-HTP combination can induce sleep and also improve sleep quality and sleep duration.
● 5-HTP May Help Fight Depression by Boosting Serotonin Levels
5-HTP dietary supplements are thought to increase serotonin levels and, by doing so, help relieve depression.
Importantly, many studies have shown that the potential depression-relieving effects of 5-HTP are even stronger when combined with other substances or antidepressants.
● 5-HTP May Help Fight Headaches and Migraines
Migraines are throbbing headaches that are often accompanied by nausea or visual disturbances. The exact cause of migraines is unknown, but some researchers believe they are caused by low levels of serotonin, and 5-HTP can help you reduce migraines by increasing serotonin levels.

● 5-HTP Can Help Treat Anxiety Disorders
A lack of serotonin may lead to low mood, anxiety depression and panic attacks. Additionally, some natural medicine proponents believe that taking 5-HTP supplements can help reduce anxiety and panic attacks. But most of the research on 5-HTP and anxiety is on 15-20 year olds.
● 5-HTP May Reduce Pain and Fibromyalgia Symptoms
Several studies have found evidence that taking 5-HTP at doses of at least 100 mg three times daily can help reduce many fibromyalgia symptoms such as pain, tenderness, anxiety, fatigue, and stiffness.
Possible Side Effects of 5-HTP
5-HTP side effects are dose dependent, so they get worse as you increase your dose. To minimize these side effects, it is better to start with small doses (50-100 mg twice daily).
According to some studies, taking 5-HTP increases serotonin but decreases levels of other neurotransmitters such as dopamine and norepinephrine. This side effect may actually make some health conditions and diseases worse.
