Salicin Powder

Salicin is an alcoholic β-glucoside. Salicin is an anti-inflammatory agent that is produced from willow bark. It is also found in castoreum, which was used as an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic. The activity of castoreum has been credited to the accumulation of salicin from willow trees in the beaver's diet, which is transformed to salicylic acid and has an action very similar to aspirin. Salicin is closely related in chemical make-up to aspirin. When consumed, the acetalic etherbridge is broken down.

1. Treat fever, colds and infections
As "natural aspirin," salicin is used to treat minor fevers, colds, infections (influenza), acute and chronic rheumatic complaints, headaches, and pain due to inflammation. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), a synthetic substitute for salicin, has potentially dangerous gastrointestinal side effects. In its natural form, salicin passes harmlessly through the gastrointestinal system and is converted to salicylic acid in the blood and liver. The conversion process takes several hours, so the results are not immediately felt by the body, but the general effects last for several hours.

2. Reduce arthritis pain and low back pain
Salicin is thought to be the source of white willow bark's anti-inflammatory and pain-reducing abilities. The pain-relieving power of white willow bark usually takes effect slowly but lasts longer than regular aspirin products. A trial found that a herbal compound product containing 100ng of salicin can effectively improve the pain relief ability of arthritis patients after being taken continuously for two months. Another trial found that consuming 1,360 mg of white willow bark extract (containing 240 mg of salicin) daily for two weeks was more effective in treating joint pain and/or arthritis. Using high doses of white willow bark extract may also help relieve low back pain. A four-week trial found that white willow bark extract containing 240 mg of salicin was effective in reducing the exacerbation of low back pain.

3. Exfoliate skin and improve skin texture
In a patent titled "Use of Salicin as an Anti-Irritation Compound in Cosmetics and Topical Skin Preparations," salicylic acid is cited as an effective ingredient in "the control and prevention of so-called 'stings,' Use of salicin can treat atopic dermatitis, type I and IV skin irritations, and use salicin to increase the irritation threshold of sensitive skin." Salicin's aspirin-like properties are also thought to be useful in eliminating diaper rash, Herpetic inflammation and sunburn, concentration is approximately 5%.
